Route:

Olbia, Mortorio Island, Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo, Bonifacio, Iles Lavezzi Island, Budelli Island, La Maddalena Archipelago

The sunny Mediterranean island of Sardinia is simply made for a paradise holiday. It has a well-developed infrastructure for yachting, snow-white beaches and a comfortable climate. Sardinia is diverse, it shines with the colors of bustling port cities and small villages on the shores of the Tyrrhenian and Mediterranean seas.

In addition, Sardinia accounts for a quarter of all the beaches in Italy. Moreover, according to the Italians themselves, the best part of them. The beaches of the Costa Smeralda (the most prestigious and exquisite territory of the northeast coast of Sardinia, translated as the Emerald Coast) caressed by the attention of celebrities, are located in small beautiful bays with white, golden or pink sand. The most popular are Prince’s Beach, named after the Ismaili leader Karim Aga Khan IV, who founded the resort, and Lischia Ruja Beach, framed by juniper and strawberry trees. Porto Rotondo with its unusually shaped rocks has been chosen by divers, and the beaches of the La Maddalena protected archipelago, which have preserved their pristine beauty, can only be reached by catamaran, which we will gladly do.

We will also make a short passage through the Strait of Bonifacio and find ourselves in Corsica, an island about which the Corsicans themselves say this: “Corsica was often conquered, but never subjugated.” Previously ruled by Pisa, Genoa and France, today Corsica enjoys a special status. And it is special in everything: a mountain in the middle of the sea, an “island of beauty”, Corsica is surprisingly diverse in terms of landscapes, and its relative freedom from hordes of tourists and industrial enterprises allows the island to still remain one of the most precious pearls of the Mediterranean. The island has a lot of magnificent landscapes, beautiful bays, interesting sights, clean beaches and figures of Napoleon.

Day 1. City of Olbia

Our meeting place is the city of Olbia, it is there that we fly and everyone who wants to relax on the luxurious and caressed chic of the northeast coast of Sardinia, it is there that the marina is located, in which our snow-white handsome catamarans are already waiting for us. We get to know them, get to know the team, listen carefully to the briefing, drink a glass of delicious white wine and go shopping for food for our trip. In the evening we can have dinner on the waterfront at a local restaurant, enjoying the scenery and looking forward to our next week of relaxation!)

Day 2. beaches of Mortorio Island

In the morning we make our first sailing trip and head towards Porto Rotondo. Why in the direction? Everything is very simple – we will arrive in Porto Rotondo in the evening, and during the day we will enjoy the beauties of the island of Mortorio, located just east of Sardinia itself. Mortorio is a picturesque natural oasis with rich vegetation, in places covered with rocks of extraordinary shape and beauty. Mortorio Island is famous for the fact that only here you can find natural wild landscapes. On the beach of Mortorio you most likely will not meet a single person. Mortorio beach will surprise you for real – snow-white sand and crystal clear water do not leave anyone indifferent. Just imagine that the whole island is at the disposal of two people – you and your soulmate. Then we still go to Porto Rotondo. “Rotondo” in Italian means “round”, this elite place got such a name not by chance: its cozy picturesque bay, a favorite place for the owners of the most expensive yachts, is framed by a magnificent embankment of almost perfectly round shape. The picture is truly unforgettable! Porto Rotondo is known throughout the world as little Venice, because thanks to the founders of the resort, Nicolò and Luigi Dona Delle Rosa, this exclusive Sardinian resort has a romantic and sophisticated Venetian style in literally everything. Among the architectural monuments and sights, the Church of San Lorenzo is especially striking in its majesty and richness of architectural thought, to which, as if into the sky, an impressive staircase of 35 steps leads, connecting San Lorenzo with San Marco Square. Piazzetta San Marco is considered the cultural, secular and entertainment center of the city. You have probably heard about the unique mosaic composition “Food Chain” by the world-famous sculptor Emmanuel Chapalain. So it is located in Porto Rotondo on Via del Molo, the whole street looks like an amazing marine ecosystem with an endless variety of bizarre fish.

Day 3. Porto Cervo

Get ready, friends, because on this day we will have to move to Porto Cervo – a town that has already become synonymous with luxurious life and VIP recreation for the rich and famous. As the centerpiece of the legendary Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast), the exclusive resort beckons high society to its magnificent villas and hotels. If you dream of getting into a fairy tale and touching a truly royal life on the sea coast – please, this is the place for you! We will leave our catamarans at the Poltu Quatu marina and arrive on the promenade in Porto Cervo to walk to the famous Piazzetta, the central square of Porto Cervo, where we will have a fantastic view of the Costa Smeralda, strewn with snow-white swaying silhouettes of luxury yachts.

Day 4.  Bonifacio

Spiaggia_rosa_isola_di_budelli_sardegna

Adventures continue and on this day we briefly say goodbye to Italian Sardinia, pass through the narrow Strait of Bonifacio (width – 11 km) and find ourselves on the territory of France – the island of Corsica, the fourth largest in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily, in fact, Sardinia and Cyprus) . We are met by the most incredible, most mythical and most beautiful city of Corsica – Bonifacio. Climbing to the very edge of the cliff, in the south of the island, Bonifacio has been meeting travelers for many hundreds of years, among whom, according to legend, was Odysseus. We are waiting for the incredible beauty of nature, the cozy streets of the old town, excellent Corsican wines and “bonifacio eggplant”. The town, surrounded by walls of white limestone, is divided into two parts: the upper town and the lower (Marina), centered around the port. Quite formidable outside, bordered by rocks, inside Bonifacio hides touching carved stone houses, narrow cozy streets, ancient buildings of churches and cathedrals, fragrant gardens and parks. The top point of the city is the observation deck Sait-Roch, from where you can see the rock – “Sand” (Grein de sable). In the old city, along the “street of the two emperors” Rue des deux Empereurs, tourists make their leisurely promenade, eager to survey the city’s citadel of Bonifacio, crowned with the Aragonese stairs descending to the water – a magnificent historical place overgrown with legends.

Day 5. Iles Lavezzi

We leave Bonifacio, along the way, taking with us a couple of bottles of white Corsican, we go to meet a new day and a new sea adventure – our fifth day of travel will be full of sails, a fair wind, sunbathing and swimming as never before. To begin with, we will anchor in a picturesque and transparent bay next to the tiny island of Iles Lavezzi – an uninhabited miracle of nature, where there has always been only one owner – His Majesty Rest.))) Here in his network we will get to a luxurious island beach. After lunch, we leave the azure bay, return to the territorial waters of Italy, and go straight to another amazing place, hidden from the eyes of millions of tourists – the island of Budelli, one of the islands of the Maddalena archipelago, in the north of Sardinia, is included in the national park of the same name with the archipelago. There are an incredible number of the best beaches, we choose the best place to anchor, watch the sunset, drink wine and enjoy life!!We leave Bonifacio, along the way, taking with us a couple of bottles of white Corsican, we go to meet a new day and a new sea adventure – our fifth day of travel will be full of sails, a fair wind, sunbathing and swimming as never before. Day 6. La Maddalena

In the morning we go to the main and largest island of the La Maddalena archipelago (the archipelago of 60 islands is a National Park), where we will stop in the marina of the town of the same name. This is the main and only inhabited island of the archipelago (the exception is the castle of Stanyali on the island of Caprera and the settlements on the island of Santa Maria). About 13,000 people live in the town where we are staying, which has a history of two hundred years. At one time, this modest town, which, without a doubt, is one of the most beautiful cities in Sardinia, was even called “little Paris”. The heart of the entire archipelago, the city of La Maddalena is proud of its historical center, its ancient buildings and squares, which lead to small streets and narrow lanes.

Day 7. Olbia

Screenshot 2022-08-25 at 16.57.49

We say goodbye to the La Maddalena archipelago and head to our home marina in Olbia. Passing by the already beloved Porto Cervo, we again enjoy an incredible spectacle and contemplate the sailing regatta. In the evening we arrange a captain’s dinner, exchange impressions of the past week and build wonderful, joint plans for the future! Everything has its beginning and its end. Unfortunately, our joint adventure is also coming to an end – in the morning we hand over our catamarans and, hugging tightly goodbye, we go to Olbia airport. But each of us, leaving Sardinia, will throw more than one coin into the local fountains in order to return here again as soon as possible!!!
