because no one will stop us from getting to know the delights of this wonderful place!<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Raiatea, or &#8220;sacred island&#8221;, is not in vain considered the birthplace of all Polynesian civilizations.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Once upon a time, the Maori tribe lived on the land of Raiatea Island, then it was called Hawaiki (or Hawaii\u2019Nui) and was the religious and cultural center of all ancient Polynesia.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to ancient legends, it was from this island that representatives of the Maori set off, who were considered first-class navigators and discovered many islands in the Pacific Ocean &#8211; from the Hawaiian Islands to New Zealand.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Since that time, amazing archaeological and historical monuments have been preserved on Raiatea.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Among them, for example, the ancient temple of Taputapuatea marae.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is dedicated to the god of war and is the most famous and largest marae (sacred site) in all of French Polynesia.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Here, in the west of the island, there is another marae &#8211;
